Bairro Alto and surroundings

Stop by Chiado MRT plenty of lanes with bars and restaurants, typically decorated with azulejos. From there you can walk to the famous Bairro Alto for a drink. At night time, this area takes a complete different atmosphere from the day time.
At night you can walk to Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara, to enjoy the beautiful view of the Castelo São Jorge, illuminated by the city lights. The stairs going down is a nice journey to wander into the lanes and reach Praça do Rossio, next to Restauradores.
When all the doors are shutting down late evening at the Bairro Alto, but still in the mood to go out: walk down the streets from Chiado, toward the Tage. Some dancing disco are located in a pink street beside Cais de Sodré.

For a Fado tune and authentic dinner, walk down the hill from the Castelo São Jorge, to the Alfama, the oldest neighbourhood of Lisbon. You can escape the maze made by the lane where the Fado comes out of the blind alley. There are plenty of hidden authentic Portuguese bars. You should stop where ever you feel comfortable to sip a glass of Porto or Ginja, along with some typical recipe.

From Cais de Sodre

From the station, you can either

• Take the boat that will bring you in the other side of the Tage, where you can try some crab and seafood. After that, you can also cycle to Costa Caparica, catch a bus / uber to go there or go visit the Santo cristo and admire a beautiful view on the Tage and Lisbon
• Take the train to Cascais follows the sea edge. Few stops are worth to spend a couple of hours
  You can stop at Estoril train station, to enjoy this sandy beach of Praia do Tamariz. From there take a 30min walk along the coast to reach Cascais following the seawall and take a jump into the natural rock sea pool.
• Cycling in between Cais de Sodre and Guincho / Cascais
• Catch a tramway to go and explore Belem area. Belem has to offer the visit of the tower, maritime museums, and conqueror edifice. A stop to the famous Pasteleiria de Belem is highly recommended. Taste some warm cinnamon sprinkling pasteis de Belem, the original typical Portuguese sweet pie.
• Visit the Centro for the unknown lisboa and, walk along the Maat Museum & Monumento descobrimentos

Cycling in between Cais de Sodre and Guincho / Cascais

Biking along the seacoast in Lisbon is totally doable. It is safe and you can stop at any time and jumping on the train to go back to Lisbon or Cascais. It is safe, flat, don’t need a map

Sintra and his castles

Take 2 days to visit Sintra: the Castelo da Pena, Castelo dos Mouros, Convento dos Capuchos, Parque e Palacio de Monserrate, Palacio e Jardins de Queluz, Palacio Naciona de Sintra… Parques, Gardens and castels in Sintra . The train journey takes about 40min from the Rossio train station.

From Sintra or either Cascais, take a bus to Cabo da Roca, the point the most at the west of the European continent. Walk down carefully a little path to reach the beautiful hidden sandy beach of Ursa, rocked by strong waves.

Sesimbra

You can travel in the South part of the Tage, out of Lisbon and reach Setubal where you can book a tour to go and watch the wild dolphins in the sea. Pretty beaches and awesome point of view can be visited around: Sesimbra, Arrabida, Farol do Cabo Espichel, Costa da Caparica…
