The “I am Amsterdam” sign can be found at different place in Amsterdam. Apparently, the set of letters can move time to time, so double check before you are heading there.

The Queen’s Birthday

The biggest party in the Amsterdam. Rveryone is dressing up with orange color to celebrate the Birthday of the Queen. The party is going on in the entire city: on the street and on the boats floating on the canals. Loud music: people dancing, drinking and smoking all around.

Rotterdam

Rotterdam has a very interesting architecture with all these buildings. The city has also the more important harbor of the country. Rotterdam can be visited in one afternoon. The fast sprinter (train) from Amsterdam takes about 40min with only 2-3 stops and cost 15€ with the OV-chipcaard.

The main points of interests around Rotterdam city are

  • The Cube Houses when you watch it from outside, it gives you the impression that you would stand in oblique inside. There is an hostel and flat to visit, so you can get the experience to spend one night inside the cube houses.
  • The Markethall a “food court ” is build inside an closed arcade, in which set accommodations.
  • The Erasmusburg where there is the boat stop to take the taxi boat, bus boat, pancakes boat… you can travel to different points around the city from the water, you can reach the windmills, but it’s better to bring a bike). There is a bike track to reach the sea coast and the beach, this takes approximately 1h.
  • Veerhaven a lovely little typical port
  • Witte de Withstraat one of the nightlife street of Rotterdam with bars and restaurants to check out
  • Katendrecht area to have a walk around and crossing the 2 bridges to go to the SS Rotterdam boat, the Fenix Food Factory, the New York Hotel, the Floating Pavillon
  • Kinderdijk few kilometers in South East of Rotterdam. Accessible by car, boat (from Erasmusburg) or bike. THere you can visit the windmills

The Hague and Scheveningen

From The Hague, you can have a nice walk to the sea coast. It takes around 1h, but it’s totally worth it. You can make your way through old part of the city (Binnenhof) pass by the Paleis Noordeneid and Peace Palace, walk along park and canal, go through the forest, visit Madurodam and reach Scheveningen, a friendly sea side coast, with lots of bar and restaurant, where they serve BBQ, have sofa on the sand and since little status around the dyke …
